College students and other aspiring developers need hands-on experience in preparation for their job search. Companies too prefer to hire employees who can demonstrate technical skills. The dilemma is where to get the experience one needs to stand out when applying for a job. This is where open source contributions come to the rescue. This involves developing or improving open source software, providing a platform for learning and showcasing one’s skill set. The aim of this pyladies open source workshop is to give participants an introduction to what contributing to open source entails, and how they can get started in a hands-on workshop where everyone will get a chance to contribute to projects and also learn how to find projects to which they can contribute.
