In-Person

Your laptop will need to output HDMI. Connect the HDMI cable with the Prophecy adapter to your laptop, and you will see a new display called PyConZA that you should project to.

You should not have to worry about resolution and refresh rate settings thanks to the Prophecy adapter, as it forces 1280x720 @ 50 Hz as the only option. This is important, as the Black Magic cards we are using to capture the screen input are happiest at 1280x720 @ 50 Hz. Using the wrong refresh rate, even with the proper resolution, causes issues.

Remote

Go to OBS Ninja, and use it to generate two links for you:

• Click on Add your Camera to OBS. You should normally use this as your audio source. Once you have configured your settings, click on START and note the URL copied to your clipboard and available at the top.
• Click on Remote Screenshare into OBS. Once you have configured your settings, click on START and note the URL copied to your clipboard and available at the top.

Do not confuse the URL at the top of your OBS Ninja window with the URL in the address bar. The address bar URL is not for sharing. The URL you want to share will have view in it and looks like https://vdo.ninja/?view=H3Huj5a.

OBS is a free peer-to-peer service, that does not require you to register an account.

Once you have both URLs, share your URLs in the #stream-setup channel in the ORGANISERS & SPEAKERS section in Discord, making sure to describe what talk it's for and which URL is for your screen, and which is for your camera.

Communication will be done via discord, either in the above-mentioned channel or via direct message with the MC or Stream PC operator.
